Poetry and Writings
Captive Memories is Harar V. A Hall's first poetry collection. Incorporating elements of personal story telling and spoken word traditions Captive Memories delves into the personal and political experiences of the author.
For me, the act of writing is deeply personal it is integral to my survival
It would be impossible to speak about myself as a writer, without first speaking about myself as a journaler and as a lover of escapism. For me, the act of writing is deeply personal because for many years it was integral to my survival. Becoming the poet I am today it has been one of the most beautiful manifestations of my own commitment to healing. The most incredible part of sharing poetry, personal essays, articles and academic texts - is the possibility of someone reading my stories and recognizing something in them. It is sharing the potential for healing with others. Personal storytelling, for me, is about that commitment to connecting. It is also a commitment to expression, to learning, to the production of knowledge.
